Care for Amaryllis Plants:

1. Planting: Choose a well-drained soil mix, such as one part well-rotted manure, one part horticultural grit or sand, and two parts leaf mould. Alternatively, a mix of two-thirds good compost with one-third grit works well. Plant the bulbs in a pot with drainage holes, leaving about one-third of the bulb above the soil surface.

2. Sunlight: Amaryllis thrives in full sun, so place the pot in a bright location with indirect sunlight.

3. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist during the growing season, but avoid overwatering, as soggy soil can lead to bulb rot. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings.

4. Temperature: Maintain a temperature around 20°C for optimal growth. Avoid exposing the plant to extreme cold or heat.

5. Fertilizing: Apply any organic fertilizer regularly during the growing season to promote healthy growth and vibrant blooms.

Harvesting: After flowering, encourage reflowering by cutting old flowers and trimming the stem once it begins to sag. Water and fertilize regularly for 5-6 months until leaves yellow. Trim leaves to 2 inches from the bulb, then store in a cool, dark place for at least 6 weeks. Avoid storing bulbs with apples, as it can harm them.
