Planting Instructions:
Seed Preparation:
Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours before sowing. This helps to soften the seed coat and improve germination rates.
Sowing:
Fill a seed tray or small pots with a mixture of peat and sand or a commercial seed-starting mix.
Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil. Do not cover them with soil as they need light to germinate.
Mist the soil surface lightly to settle the seeds in place.
Germination:
Place the seed tray or pots in a location with indirect sunlight or under grow lights.
Maintain a consistent temperature of 65-75°F (18-24°C).
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Use a spray bottle to mist the surface if needed.
Germination can take 2-4 weeks.
Transplanting:
Once the seedlings have developed two sets of true leaves and are sturdy enough to handle, they can be transplanted.
Carefully transplant the seedlings into individual pots or directly into the garden, spacing them about 6-12 inches apart.
If planting outdoors, choose a location with partial shade to full sun and ensure the soil remains consistently moist.
Care and Maintenance:
Water regularly to keep the soil moist, especially during dry periods. Juncus effusus spiralis thrives in wet conditions.
Mulch around the base of the plants to help retain soil moisture.
Trim back dead or damaged foliage to encourage new growth and maintain a tidy appearance.
In colder climates, provide some winter protection or bring potted plants indoors to avoid frost damage.
Happy Gardening!
